Odds and Ends

For some reason, Jayce is sure our house is haunted. I don't know where this paranoia is rooted, but I can't convince him otherwise. He protects his room from ghosts with the following contraption:

It's a plastic toy bay, a STOP DUI chip clip, and an inspirational bookmark all taped together. Where does he learn this stuff?
.
By the way, before bed he commented to me, "Mom, books are better than eating." If that attitude continues, he'll definitely be a skinny intellectual in no time.
.
As for me, I'm about ready to put myself out in the shed (if I had a shed, that is). I cannot stop coughing!! For three weeks now I've been hacking away, being annoying at every turn. In Relief Society I had to get up twice so I wouldn't detract from the lesson. Unfortunately, sitting in front with the rest of the Presidency didn't provide much anonymity. I was horrified! After the second incident I just stayed out in the hall and missed the end of Maren's lesson. I just didn't have the heart to be so intrusive, yet again! I can barely maintain any semblance of a conversation, and I can't look at anyone directly for fear a cough will creep up and I'll send it in their direction. Misery! I'm thinking my allergies have returned -- this happened when I first moved to Vegas, but the prescribed medicine never helped. I just had to ride it out. GRRRR!! So, I apologize to all those who have come or will come before me . . . I'm a disgusting mess!
.
Alyssa's vocab has burst out like crazy in the last couple of weeks -- she's speaking so well, and her sentence structure is amazing.
.
Jer grew a goatee, and I think he looks especially handsome!

So sorry you are sick. :( If I were your neighbor I would make you chicken noodle and rolls, uh... how about I send the recipe. ;)

Oh Lisa, I feel for you!! Sam had whooping cough nearly a year ago, and it still affects him (in fact he was up with a 2-hour coughing fit last night), and one of the worst things is how embarrassed he feels about it. He KNOWS how annoying it is to everyone around him, and yet he can't help it, and he tries to suppress it but then it just makes it worse. It's been just awful. I really hope you get better soon!!

That ghost protector made me laugh so hard! That kid is hilarious!
Where can I get one? (You know, just in case my house becomes haunted)

Jayce is so clever! I hope it works for him! I'm so sorry you have been sick! Take it easy if you can and I hope you feel better soon. Alyssa sounds adorable! You'll have to post a video clip of her talking one of these days. And a picture of Jer. (I don't believe it! :) )

That is so funny! It amazes me where kids pick things up and find insecurities. Luckily, we've still got Syd talked into the fact that there are no monsters and ghosts in the world. As soon as she stops believing, I'll have her give Jayce "Ghostbusters" a call! ;) So sorry you've all been sick! There is nothing worse!!!...
