What could this possibly mean?
I'm disheveled
My house is a disaster
Pike meals are pitiful
I've become a hermitess/an anti-socialite
My kids are hopelessly bored and frustrated with my couch-laying ways
Nausea is a constant companion -- LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!
Yes, I'm pregnant! (as some of you gleaned from FB, my perpetual scowl, my greenish face, or my protruding belly). I fondly call this prenatal period, "The dark days of the Pike family" -- due to my complete ineffectiveness as a mother, wife, and homemaker. Fortunately, I do do something well . . . I create fabulous babies.
So despite my reservations, Jer and I felt we needed to do this one more time. And after dealing with the OB world, I'm glad. Terms such as perinatal, high-risk, maternal/fetal medicine, and genetic counseling have been bandied about, and although I don't feel "old," the medical community deems me otherwise.
We are thrilled! Baby is estimated to arrive on April 16 -- YES, a spring baby! I've always wanted a spring baby. And a few weeks ago the ultrasound tech was pretty positive we'd be having a girl. The doctor who examined me later was a little hesitant to say for sure, so we're still wondering. He/she looks perfect, however, and we can't wait to meet the final Pike!
