Week in Review

Last night I thought I was headed for the hospital. My contractions were crazy and I had other symptoms that nearly convinced me to go. During this time I began to panic. His clothes aren't washed! Will I ever sleep again? How will I juggle three kids? Will labor go smoothly? Will he be healthy? I'm usually pretty calm about these situations, so I was surprised by my reaction.

However, the symptoms subsided as the night progressed and the sense of urgency passed -- as well as my anxiety. At that point I answered my own fear-filled questions. Jeremy is perfectly capable of doing laundry. I probably won't sleep for awhile, but I've muddled through and survived before. I'll figure out the three kid thing. Labor usually doesn't last long for me and it's always worked out. And healthy or not, he'll be a huge blessing. I'm convinced things will be okay, so I'm ready for the contractions to return. Please? ;)

I'm going to get one of these . . .

Will he look like Alyssa? Darker complexion? Lots of hair? Perfect lips and big brown eyes?

Or will he look like Jayce? Blond? Beautiful blue eyes? His sweet little nose?
Since our kids look unrelated, he may be his own unique look. I'm so curious!
And, to totally change the subject, I need to give a shout-out to my Cougs. After a stunning victory over Oklahoma, and a resounding thumping of Tulane, I'm getting so stoked about this season. Jer was gone last weekend, and he joked that he hoped BYU wouldn't beat OK for fear the excitement would put me into labor while he's in SLC. Well, the best of both worlds happened . . . BYU did win in an exciting game, and it didn't cause premature labor with my husband in the wrong state. Perfect!! Now on to FSU.
Since I refuse to come up with a clever transition from the previous paragraph, I'd like to thank Holli and Reg for visiting the big pregnant lady last week. My size and the heat have kept me indoors lately, and I feel like I haven't done any socializing. It was nice to see good friends, and Jayce was in heaven with FOUR boys to play with (minus one who was sleeping on the couch). All of you swinging through Vegas are welcome to stop by anytime!

I thought you weren't going to find out the sex?

And you just give me a call if you go into labor and need me to do ANYTHING. I am pretty sure I can do laundry... or anything else!

Now that you've answered all your own questions, let the labor begin! You might have been in labor but the body's reaction to fear & anxiety is to stop labor. Hopefully now that you've found your happy place again, things will start progressing for you. It's so hard, there at the end. I'm looking forward to meeting your new little man!! :)

Love,
Shannon

P.S. If you'd like a casting, lmk. I'd love to give one to you. :)

I saw just the update picture on my blog and I thought you had already given birth! I'm glad you are doing well. It will be fun to see your new little guy.

And for the record, I would love to off-road past the security guards to hang out with you at your house. Where do you live anyway? :) Sounds like you all had a great time with the Gardners!

11 days to go. That's amazing! Hopefully he'll be born on the same day that BYU thumps FSU. Go Cougs!

If it brings any amount of peace at all....number three hasn't been as bad as feared. You are beyond capable of handling it all! Best of luck through the labor. I'm sure it will all be as perfect as it was with the first two little ones! I'm so excited to see who he looks like, too! Hugs!

Hope all goes well. I'll bet you'll be surprised how different it is to have a baby with older siblings to help out. Keep us posted!
