The Bean, playground fun, and a garden

We enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend in P-Town.  Due to inclement weather (so, so chilly!), we found some indoor activities to occupy our time (not Wall Street).  As usual, we went to the Bean -- the Meyer staple.  July 1st is a very, very dreadful day.  The Bean Museum will be closing for a year due to renovation.  Honestly, I'm not sure the Meyer clan can survive such a travesty.  You may think I'm kidding, but I'm really not.  Whenever we're at a loss as to what to do, the Bean has always been our solution.

After the holiday weekend, we're back in school.  The best part of the day for the babies is Jayce's school pickup.  We take our time at the playground -- the moms socialize while the kids play.  I've finally allowed Brynn to wander a bit (normally she's strapped in her stroller), and she rules the school, that one.  She sways her arms in a commanding fashion and goes in the direction opposite of me.  She chases after pigeons, approaches baby strollers to catch a peak, and attempts to climb on the playground equipment (but doesn't get far).   At first I was a little taken aback at how independent and nonchalant she was in regards to Mom, but my surprise was quickly erased.  As another mom collected her brood to leave, Brynn thought she was me.  She burst into tears as her little legs tried desperately to catch up to her.  I called out her name, and eventually she stopped to look at me.  She paused and skeptically looked back and forth between the two of us, trying to decipher the real mommy.  I eventually won!  And this little demonstration showed that she really does care -- despite her insistence on escaping from me whenever I approach.

What kind of mom takes a picture of her pantless son?  Shouldn't she be rushing over and putting them back on?  Is it really appropriate to document such a moment?  Tsk, tsk!

I'm finally reaping the rewards of my garden.  You heard it here . . . Lisa . . . .is a gardener . . .  in Las Vegas.  Hopefully you've recovered from the shock!  And I'm about 75 percent successful in my crop. Not bad for a first-timer.

Glad you had a good trip! Do you ever see Katy at The Bean? I wish we lived closer and could meet at the park with our kids. That would be fun! You're Brynn is so pretty. Where did your baby go? Cute how she is so independent now. Have a great week!

Tara, I planted everything on the last Saturday of February. I knew I had to get the peas in, so I decided just to do everything while I was at it. But I could have waited through mid-March (at least according to my garden guru, Kristina Cox). And, Kayelynn, I visited Katy once at the Bean a couple of years ago. This last time we got there on a Friday night, so I figured she was long gone by then. I heard she gives a special tour to we PHS'ers. :)

Aaa! I didn't know the Bean Museum was closing for a year!! That's going to be hard for us too!

And Brynn is adorable. I'm glad she picked you out of the mommy lineup :)

So glad you're back to blogging! Your garden veggies look amazing. We've loved eating fresh veggies from our garden too, but no cukes or tomatoes yet! Enjoy! There is nothing like a home-grown tomato!

Great job on the garden! There is nothing like a home-grown tomato! We aren't quite there yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I've been nursing our little tomato plants all spring, and I can't wait for the payoff. So far we have been supplied with all the radishes, lettuce, and sugar-snap peas we can eat, and it's been great!
