I've had a few posts about Jayce's antics, but I really haven't dedicated a post for Alyssa. I'm not quite sure why . . . she's just as amusing.
Alyssa (AKA Lys, Lyssa, Lyssa Lou, Beeber, and Monkey) is our ray of sunshine. She contrasts Jayce completely -- Jayce is more contemplative and serious, while Alyssa is outgoing, funny, and has this never-ending smile (her mouth is huge, in a very Julia-Roberts-attractive sort of way). Here are a few Alyssa highlights:
She's a goofball! She spins around, shakes her head, closes her eyes and rolls her head around in an attempt to evoke a reaction from her observers.
She hums ALL THE TIME when she's content or concentrating (eating, drawing, playing with building blocks, etc.). She keeps it at the same tone, vascillating between a D or D flat, and doesn't realize she's doing it.
Everything is "so cute." And she must say that phrase in a high, squeaky voice.
She loves pink and princesses -- I haven't pushed either. How do girls innately know to like this stuff?
She hates ceiling fans.
Her crowning glory is her hair. It's long, perfectly curled, and beautifully colored (strawberry brown, maybe?). She's the talk of the town. Too bad she was born to a mom who doesn't do much with it.
.
She is saddest when we sing lullabies or other slow songs. The other night we sang "I Know My Father Lives" for FHE, and she burst into tears and wouldn't stop crying for at least five minutes. Her heart literally breaks when such songs are sung, and we don't get it.
Despite her girlishness, she is one tough nut. After many bumps and bruises from her adventure attempts, she hops right back up.
She is dramatic. Things are either really great or really horrible. Will this be a reflection of her teenage years?
I am fascinated by the nature vs. nurture debate. How could such different children come from the same set of parents? I'm fortunate that Jayce and Alyssa complement each other and get along despite their differences. And with another boy on the way, I'm especially grateful for her companionship. We girls will need to stick together!

She is as cute as you say. I am so sad that we didn't spend more time together. It feels like it has been an insane summer!
I think she is darling. I hope to get her know her better. :) How are you feeling? Looks like you only have a month and a half left? woohoo for that!
She does have a Julia Roberts vibe going on! Gorgeous girl!
We miss little Alyssa playing in the street. Can't get enough of that hair!
She does have the prettiest hair! I would never guess you don't know what to do with it because it always looks great. She is such a ray of sunshine. I can't help but smile when I see her face and her bright eyes! :-)
She is simply adorable, Lisa! I enjoyed reading all about her. :)
I love the humming! LOL I didn't realize she was unaware of it. She's always doing it during snack time.
She is one of the sweetest little girls I know!
And her head of hair makes me jealous! If only we were all so blessed. :)
What a girly girl! She is so beautiful! I agree that you might have some issues when she is a teenager though, her personality is not going to change any time soon!
