Sledding fun!

Jer and I had been hyping up the Utah trip to the kids with promises of snow and enjoyment of the wonderful world of winter sports. We decided to go sledding at Rock Canyon Park -- my mom and Bryan tagged along. Needless to say, it was a failed endeavor. Jer took Jayce down the hill, and Jayce burst into tears because his face got snow on it. Alyssa, undeterred by Jayce's sadness, insisted on going as well. Jer took her down, and it was the same thing . . . tears over snow in the face. I asked Jayce if he wanted to go again on a less steep slope. He bravely agreed, so I covered his face and off we went. However, the sobbing continued because his chin was exposed (yes, I have Vegas winter wimps). As he cried I signaled to the family to come down the hill -- we were done!!!! So here we were, with Jayce and Alyssa screaming hysterically. As I carried Alyssa to the car a sled came plowing behind and knocked Alyssa and me over. We were perfectly fine, but it capped off a magical day of sledding (I hope you sense the sarcasm). Mom and Bry just giggled over that one (we all did).

Despite the drama, Jer and I really wanted a better sledding day (we bought Jayce boots, for goodness sake -- they needed to be used!). Saturday morning was awfully chilly, but my dad, Jayce, and Jer embarked on a tubing adventure at Jolley Ranch (in Hobble Creek Canyon). I knew Alyssa wouldn't have lasted, so my mom and I took her to Thanksgiving Point instead. I guess the boys had a much better time with the second attempt. Look how snazzy they look! What snow studs!

It's true, sledding always _sounds_ a lot more fun than it actually is. It sounds like you had a good time on your Utah trip, though. I love your pictures of Temple Square!! We didn't make it up there this year, in spite of living 30 min. away (I know, lame!) but I always love it when we go. Hope you got home safely and are enjoying being back to normal life now. :)

What a day! Our boys have never been sledding. I wonder if they'd react the same way? I'd go for it...your sled looks awesome!

Good 'ol Utah snow. There's no other snow like on the earth. Weither it gets whipped in the face or not, everyone should experience it.

I'm sure your kids will appreciate it more when they get older.
